Salford Arts Theatre will host performances of A Taste of Honey, celebrating the play’s 50th anniversary, at the end of this month.
A Taste of Honey, written by Shelagh Delaney in 1958, focuses on the lives of the working class in 1950s Salford. Following the rocky relationship between a mother (Helen) and her daughter (Jo) as they move throughout the city, seeking love and romance elsewhere.
Capturing the raw grit and emotion of the era, at its core A Taste of Honey navigates the complicated yet unbreakable relationship between a mother and daughter as their bond echoes throughout the narrative.
From the hopefulness of the romance of Jo and her love interest Jimmie, to the humour and earnestness throughout the performance; A Taste of Honey is relatably authentic and timeless.
The Salford Arts Theatre production will see Elle Wilder as Helen, Rebecca Phythian as Jo, Harry Wright as Geoffrey, Karl Braidwood as Peter, and Roman Ryan as Jimmie.
Performances will run from Wednesday 27 to Sunday 31 May. Performances will start at 7.30pm at Salford Arts Theatre, except on Sunday 31, which will begin at 6.00pm.
Tickets are available online for £14.00 per adult or £12.00 per concession.
