Crimestoppers suggest that it is estimated that in the UK, there is a burglary every 40 seconds, and when the clocks go back, the number of break-ins rises by a third.

With Christmas approaching it is important for residents to stay resilient and alert as it is so easy for them to become a target as we approach darker winter nights.

Statistics

According to an article by Express, Salford ranked 8th in the worst cities for safety and well-being, making it even more so important for precautions to be taken.

Although at Christmas a peak in theft is seen, it has come to light that Greater Manchester Police record a higher total number of crimes and a higher crime rate per 1,000 people than any other Northwest County with 120,557 theft offences over the course of one year based upon research by Churchill group.

Ways in which Salford residents can change this statistic is by taking precautions in order to protect themselves, their home and their community during the festive period.
