The Rugby League World Cup 2021 men’s, women’s and wheelchair trophies will be on display at the Selco builder’s warehouse between 9am and 10am on Friday.

Salford’s Branch of Selco is located on North Phoebe Street. They are partners of both the Rugby League World Cup and Salford Red Devils.

The trophies will be visiting Salford schools throughout the day before going on display at the AJ Bell stadium, when the Red Devils play Leeds Rhinos at 8pm.

Carine Jessamine, marketing director at Selco, said: “We are delighted to be offering this unique opportunity to our customers, colleagues, fans of Salford Red Devils and rugby league and sports enthusiasts across Manchester in general.

“The Rugby League World Cup will be one of the major sporting events in 2022 and we are thrilled to be an official partner of the tournament and to enjoy opportunities such as bringing the trophies to our Salford branch on Friday.”

The tournament will be played in England for the sixth time, the first since 2013, with previous winners Australia being tipped as favourites for the men’s trophy.

Salford Red Devils fans will have an interest in the tournament as fullback Ryan Brierley and centre Tim Lafai are set to be members of the Scotland and Samoa team’s respectively.

Centre Kallum Watkins and winger Joe Burgess also have outside chances of representing England.

England men kick off the tournament on October 15th against Lafai’s Samoa at St James’ Park in Newcastle while England women begin their campaign on November 1st against Brazil.
