Vulnerable people in Salford have been urged to receive their Covid-19 boosters ahead of the upcoming winter.

Salford City Council has tweeted the importance of receiving the Covid-19 boosters in order to better protect immunity.

Those aged 50 and over are eligible for the vaccine, but only those over 65s are currently eligible to book appointments for jabs. Informal and formal carers, pregnant women, and people in residential care have also been advised to receive the vaccination.

Further eligibility expands to people with health conditions that will put them at risk, such as asthma, diabetes and cancer.

Vaccines are essential in protecting people against Covid-19 and its different variants. You may still catch covid, but it will likely be milder and not last as long. The vaccines can also help to prevent the spread of covid-19 to vulnerable people.

Vaccines offer protection, but it is essential to keep up with the boosters to maintain the maximum levels of protection against the virus.
