£5,000 has been raised in a toy appeal to make sure that Salford children are not without a gift this Christmas.

Edison Media and Glencar Construction have teamed together to help children of less fortunate in Salford with a mission to raise £10,000 to buy gifts.  So far, they’ve raised £5000 for Christmas toy donations. The two businesses are calling on others and individuals across the region to come together this Christmas and support their 2026 Christmas Toy Appeal, “Be Someone’s Santa”.

The appeal will support vulnerable children aged between 0–18 and families across the City of Salford.

Miles Dagnall, from Edison Media said: “This year we wanted help all local children, not just babies.

“A lot of us have children and no one likes to see any child go without toys at Christmas.”

Together they’ve already raised £5,000 in donations from businesses like Montriex, Reprimo and members of the public who have been spotted buying several baskets of toys.

Jodie Howe and Nicola Orrell with donations Last Friday (October 9), the fundraisers got a jumpstart in buying toys in time for Christmas. They were offered a “charitable discount” in the Aldi supermarket  to allow the money to stretch as far as possible.

Through Be Someone’s Santa, Edison Media is asking its clients, partners, media owners, suppliers, local businesses and the wider community to help provide Christmas gifts for vulnerable children and children in need across Salford, Bury and Bolton.

People can donate a new, unwrapped gift or make a financial contribution, with every penny raised used to purchase presents for children and young people.

Nicola Orrell, Managing Director of Edison Media, said, “Christmas has always meant a lot to us as a team. So many of us have young families ourselves and we know how much excitement surrounds Christmas for children.

“That is where Be Someone’s Santa came from. We are incredibly fortunate to work with hundreds of businesses, clients, media owners, suppliers and partners, and we want to bring that community together.”

The community is encouraged to get involved by donating to their JustGiving, dropping off a gift to Edison Media HQ, Manchester or sharing the appeal if you are unable to donate.

After stepping away from their usual fundraising activity, the Prematurity Ball which is happening this year, the team wanted to put the time, energy and support that had grown around its previous fundraising into something new while continuing its commitment to helping children and families.

All donations are to be collected by Friday December 4 2026.
