This weekend saw stage one of the Tour of Britain sweep through the streets of Salford in a stunning five hour contest.

The opening race began yesterday (Sunday 3 September) at 11.45am on Altrincham’s Market Street before weaving through Hazel Grove, Marple, Wigan, and Walkden, before heading to Deansgate Manchester at 4pm.

Olav Kooij sprinted to win the day, before moving on to Wrexham today (Monday 4 September).

Spectators lined the streets in Walkden and Swinton to see Stage One of the competition, before it continues to Goole, Sherwood Forest, Felixstowe, Southend-On-Sea, Tewkesbury, and finishing in Caerphilly on Sunday 10 September.
