Score at grimsby salford

Salford City saw their week turn from bad to worse as they lost three-nil at home to Grimsby Town this Friday.

After a horrific week that saw the Ammies lose their manager, Salford City looked for a response against the turmoil but found themselves well beaten by the Mariners.

Goals from Harry Clifton, Tobias Mullarkey, and Danny Rose saw Grimsby Town return home with their first away win of the season.

Despite an energetic start to the first half for Salford City, it regressed to the same story of their season so far as they faded in the first half.

Grimsby saw plenty of the ball in the first half as Salford fans watched Grimsby threaten with chance after chance.

After some time, the inevitable struck as Grimsby Town claimed the first of the night.

In the 38th minute, forward Clifton completed a clean finish in the box as a result of a low cross from Salford’s right side to make it one-nil to Grimsby Town.

With the goal in consideration, fans in the stadium saw the lone goal as the only scrap of excitement as the first half concluded.

After a melancholy start to the second half, the game was solidified in the 70th minute after Grimsby forward Toby Mullarkey curled a strike past Alex Carins to the dismay of the Ammies fans.

The pain was not over for Ammies fans; around 15 minutes later, Grimsby fan-favourite striker Danny Rose got Grimsby’s third of the night to end the game three-nil for Grimsby.

Another loss this week puts Salford City in 21st place in League Two with their last win away at Doncaster in October, as they continue a very poor run over the past two months.

After the sacking of Neil Wood this week, Salford City fans will be looking for a saviour to come in and turn around the club.

Salford City’s next fixture will be against Accrington Stanley at the Wham Stadium at 3 pm on New Year’s Day.
