Salford Red Devils star Oliver Partington is thought to be on the verge of completing a transfer to Warrington Wolves.

Partington has been playing for the Red Devils for 12 months since his permanent switch from Wigan Warriors. He has impressed over the course of the season with his contributions leading him to become one of the top performers in Paul Rowley’s side.

Talks for the player have intensified over the last couple of days with Salford set to lose another of their best performers, amid the club’s financial difficulty, with the Red Devils’ owners outlining financial issues that would result in a review of the playing budget.

The Red Devils have asked for Warrington forward Joe Bullock in return as part of the deal but this is thought to be unlikely at this point. However Warrington remain keen on striking a deal regardless.

This will be a massive blow to Paul Rowley’s side, who have already seen other key players such as Tyler Dupree depart mid season for Wigan Warriors. With the Red Devils replacing him with Brad Singleton, who had initially been signed for the 2024 season but was brought in mid season to fill the void left by Dupree.

Warrington Wolves are a side in a much better financial situation than Salford, with their boss Sam Burgess a huge fan of Partington. Warrington have already brought in players Rodrick Tai and Zane Musgrove ahead of the 2024 season.
