Irlam FC are hosting a monthly veterans coffee morning to give back to the community after a successful turn out this March.

The coffee morning encourages veterans to come to the hub where hot food and drinks will be served.

The coffee morning further includes a bacon butty, a drink, a chat and even a chance to watch Irlam play later on.

With over 20 veterans turning up for the first coffee morning, the club are wanting to increase this number next month.

Lee Hilton, the chairman of Irlam FC has been putting this event together for 18 months to create a social and safe environment for veterans.

He said: “It became apparent 18 months ago around Remembrance Sunday, that it was needed to create the hub and give back to the veterans.”

For a non-league football team, Irlam FC have built up a large community and family.

With them reaching 250 spectators against Bury the club is at its finest.

Hilton described Irlam as “non-league football at its best” and encourages anyone and everyone to come for a game.
