Salford City have signed former Fleetwood Town captain Elliot Bonds for an undisclosed fee.
The Guyana international becomes the seventh signing in an ambitious Salford transfer window which has included names such as Will Aimson, Abraham Odoh and Macauley Langstaff and puts pen to paper on a multi-year deal at the Peninsula.
Bonds, a natural central midfielder, provides a visible output in all areas of the pitch, bringing League One and League Two pedigree to the middle of the park having represented Dagenham and Redbridge, Hull City, Cheltenham Town and Fleetwood before arrriving at Salford.
The 26-year-old additionally comes with the impressive feat of international captaincy on his CV, having played 23 matches for the Guyana national team since his maiden call up in 2018.
His break came after his move from Hull City’s U23 setup to the Cheltenham first team, where Bonds impressed enough to earn almost 100 appearances for the Gloucestershire side before signing a three-year deal with Fleetwood Town in 2024.
Signing for Salford, Bonds said: “I’m really looking forward to getting started! From the minute I spoke to those involved I was looking forward to it.
“I’m one of those players that will put my heart on the line from minute one to minute 90. I’m reliable, leave everything on the pitch. I’d say I’m relentless in the way I play, on the ball and off the ball. I give it my all and that has put me in good stead my whole career to be honest.
The arrival of Elliot Bonds sees the continuation of Salford City’s exciting new rebrand, as the club’s rich and historical orange colours return with the club looking to secure a place in League One at the end of the season under the influence of Peter Cklamovski’s fresh new management style.
